(re)moved is an exhibition uncovering new meanings from the erasure of words. The project created by a collective of six artists from PNCA’s Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies consciously transforms a pre-existing text to a new text. Each word of the pre-existing text is carefully considered as each artist has had the opportunity to remove the words of their choosing. The collective has recognized this process as a removal performance that was recorded and is shown side by side with the disassembled text. The project aims to analyze how a group formulates a single text as one, criticize the permanency of writing, and challenge where power lies in the erasure and omission of words.
